In his own words...
"Born in England.56 years old. Spent first 20 years of life traipsing around Canada, living in various air force bases.Played basketball and bridge for the University of Victoria 1965. Asked to leave after scoring shockingly low grades in maths, English and Esperanto.
As penance, worked at Nelson Daily News and Kamloops Sentinel, followed by short stint as a front end brakeman with the CNR out of Jasper, Alta.
Moved to Ottawa, attended Carleton University. Eventually completed history
degree. Worked for Canadian Press in Ottawa and did freelance broadcasting
for CBC radio and wrote music reviews for Ottawa Citizen and Ottawa Journal.
Abandoned media pursuits for music. Spent the seventies playing pedal steel
guitar with various country bands and artists, including Ian Tamblyn,
Colleen Peterson, Wayne Roasthead, Myrna Lorrie and, v. briefly, with Kinky
Friedman as member of the Texas Jewboys.
Helped create World's Worst Film Festival, which eventually made its way to
New York City's Beacon Theatre in 1980 and as a CBC television series two
years later.
Pursued a career in designing computer games. With Artech Entertainment
co-produced programs that were best sellers in 25 countries: B.C.'s Quest
for Tires, Grog's Revenge, The Dam Busters and Ace of Aces.
Joined Frankland Capital Corporation in 1989. Became editor of the national
edition of Frank in 1991.
