Hokan Colting

Hokan Colting is the founder and CEO of 21st Century Airship Inc, an innovative research and development company for LTA (lighter-than-air) crafts.

Colting has always had an interest in aviation and completed his mandatory military service in the Swedish Airforce.

A self-taught hot-air balloon pilot, Colting has been designing, developing, manufacturing and flying balloons and airships since 1974. Among his patented inventions is the enabling technology for a new type of airship that is spherical in shape.

Colting has set several altitude world records for airships and is this years’ recipient of the prestigious Santos Dumont Gold Airship Medal Award. The April 2003 issue of Wired magazine notes that the US military is considering using Colting’s spheres – the prototype for which is worth US$2-million, can fly 18,000 feet and measures 60 feet in diameter – for military surveillance and environmental monitoring.

While flying his balloons and airships, Colting has been reported as a UFO numerous times but denies being an extraterrestrial alien. Born in Sweden, he lives in Newmarket, Ontario.
