In ten years of attending ideaCity, Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta, has recognized that ideaCity aligns remarkably well with Mount Royal’s own institutional vision: "Creating exceptional learning
experiences for a world of possibilities". As a result, the university has launched two unique initiatives to celebrate and leverage this connection:
An inaugural academic award
Mount royal has launched a new "World of Possibilities" award, acknowledging this affinity. On June 16th, one of its valedictorians– a baccalaureate degree graduate of Mount Royal University –will be accompanying two university representatives to Toronto to experience ideaCity firsthand. Mount Royal believes there could be no better way to demonstrate the "world of possibilities" that higher education enables, than to expose this young graduate to the world of ideas that encompasses ideaCity.
This year’s award winner is originally from Barrie, Ontario. His name is James Vultaggio. He will be accompanied by Mount Royal University representatives, Lucille Gnanasihamany, Director of Marketing and Peter Brodsky, Director of Communications. All three will be in the Toronto audience during ideaCity and sharing the experience with colleagues, associates and friends back home in Calgary, watching the very same event unfold.
A university promotion of Idea City
ideaCity’s new Home and Business Hook Up is a welcome development. Mount Royal is fully leveraging this valuable opportunity by inviting students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community on campus to view Idea City — on large screens, in a reserved hall, with refreshments provided, free. Given the time difference, it will be an early start in Calgary — 6:30 AM — but Mount Royal is confident that Idea City will be be viewed by a packed house!
