So You Think You Can Laugh? CTV Original Documentary LAUGHOLOGY Premieres Saturday, Dec. 12 on CTV

In a world that continues to face serious issues and dilemmas, where do people find the time to laugh? LAUGHOLOGY, a one-hour Original CTV Documentary from filmmaker Albert Nerenberg that explores what laughter is, what makes individuals laugh and the different ways it is expressed universally, makes its world television premiere Saturday, December 12 at 7 p.m. ET with an encore presentation on Sunday, December 13 at  12 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Originally shown at Toronto’s 2009 Hot Docs festival, LAUGHOLOGY played to sold out houses and received loud audience reaction.

With his trademark blend of humour and serious investigation, Albert Nerenberg delves into the origins of laughter and some of its most amazing adherents. From cutting edge neuroscientists to the inventor of laughter yoga, from Christian ”holy laughter” groups to living human laugh tracks, Nerenberg reveals the tremendous new interest in laughter for health, scientific examination, and mood elevation purposes. Ultimately he finds Doug Collins, the man with “the most contagious laugh in the world.”

The National Post called LAUGHOLOGY “screamingly funny”, Hour Magazine called it a “tour de force,” and the Montreal Gazette’s John Griffin gave it four stars saying, “You’ll laugh out loud.”

LAUGHOLOGY is produced by Erin Faith Young, Jennifer St. John, and Albert Nerenberg also produced in association with CTV Television Inc. Robert Hurst is President of CTV News and Current Affairs. Susanne Boyce is President, Content, Creative and Channels, CTV Inc.
