Emily Levine

Headshot of Emily Levine peering through a magnifying glassEmily Levine started her career as a comedian, appearing on David Letterman’s “Late Night” and headlining comedy clubs across the country.  She was successful – “a stand-out as a stand-up” (the Los Angeles Times); “One of the new queens of comedy” (Newsweek) – but she wasn’t happy.  Nor was she happy as a television writer/producer (“Designing Women”; “Love and War”; “Dangerous Minds”).   Then she re-invented herself as a philosopher-comedian.

Her interest in science, people and the psychopathology of every day life quickly made her a favourite at TED, EG and other conferences. Now Emily’s making a movie: “Emily @ the Edge of Chaos”.  A mix of Emily’s live performance, animations, and guest appearances by celebrated scientists, the film explains quantum physics, chaos theory and why there’s a setting on an iron for “Permanent Press”.
