ideacity 2014: Tenth Speaker Announcement

The month of June is upon us, and if you haven’t already started counting down the days to ideacity, now’s a great time to start! The latest presenters to appear on our schedule are slated to cover topics as diverse and intriguing as the chilly corners of the animal kingdom, to the unique potential for one of the most oft-overlooked members of the plant world. Whether divining the future through intuition, or unraveling hidden meaning through mathematics, these speakers see the world through some very different lenses.

Jason I. BrownJASON I. BROWN – Math Tricks & ‘A Hard Day’s Night’

Jason I. Brown is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Dalhousie University. In groundbreaking research, he has applied mathematics to uncover musical mysteries in all genres of music, including: Why are the blues so damn good? Her first foray into the world of academic research entailed studying the food habits of bats in Minnesota – lots of time dissecting and identifying insect remains.
