Our next four speakers are all accomplished in their respective fields. Two cartoonists who prove that the pen is mightier than the sword, a laughologist who is changing the way we think about laughing and an author who is writing about our dependency on computers, these speakers are giving us a new way to view the world around us.

Nicholas Carr writes about technology and culture. He is the author of the acclaimed new book The Glass Cage: Automation and Us, which examines the personal and social consequences of our ever growing dependency on computers. For 29 years he produced political cartoons, editorials, graphics, page-design, web-animations, and the Sunday illustrated column Mr. Pundit for Vancouver’s Province newspaper.
