Lee Smolin

Lee Smolin is one of the world’s leading theoretical physicists. Born in New York City, he was educated at Hampshire College and Harvard University and is a leading contributor to the field of quantum gravity.

Smolin moved to Canada to take a position as a founding researcher at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario and to take on the position of adjunct Professor of Physics at the University of Waterloo.

He has authored several popular books on physics, including The Life of the Cosmos and Three Roads to Quantum Gravity.

Smolin was formerly a professor at Yale, Syracuse and Penn State Universities. He has been a visiting professor at Imperial College London and has held various visiting positions at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Smolin has an avid interest as well in philosophy, political theory and the visual arts and, when he can, sails and plays jazz guitar.
