Back to School with ideacity Part 2 – Animals

15/09/2015

All throughout the month of September, we here at ideacity will be sharing with you some inspiring videos from our archives to take you back to school and get inspired for the upcoming year.

This weeks focus will be all on the animal kingdom. Over our 16 year history, we have had many different speakers join us to discuss various types of animals from Penguins to Elephants. Watch these three talks below and make sure to visit our Animals category in our video archives to learn more.

Our first video comes from back in 2014. Dr. Michelle LaRue has spent her career in ecological research. With six trips to Antartica under her belt she has become an expert on all things penguin. In her talk she discusses her newest research on Emperor Penguins. Watch this talk and find out more about these interesting birds.

Erika Ritter joined us back in 2010 to talk all about the relationships between humans and animals. Drawing from the ancient story of the dog and the snake, Ritter explains to the audience that animals are at a disadvantage to us because they cannot express themselves vocally to us. Watch this thought provoking talk and find out just how much our two worlds intersect.

Finally our last speaker on animals is Peter Laufer who joined us in 2014 to talk all about butterflies and the dangerous worlds that surround them. In his talk, Laufer discusses how he came into the world of butterflies and what our society is doing to the Monarch population. Learn more about Peter Laufer’s dangerous world of butterflies.

These are just three speakers who have studied the animal kingdom, some strictly by profession, others have simply fallen into it. Let us know your thoughts, and come back next Tuesday for part three of our Back to School with ideacity series focusing on The Digital Revolution.
