Idealists Remember

11/11/2015

On this Remembrance Day, we are remembering the past and those who have fought and fallen to help keep Canada and other countries strong and free.

For today’s post, we went back into our archives and found some idealists who joined us to discuss war, civil liberties and freedom. Watch the selected talks below and commemorate this important day.

In 2014 explorer Wade Davis joined us to discuss The Great War. In this talk Davis discusses why World War One began and dives into the history behind what is called The Great War.

Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General Irwin Colter joined us in 2014 to discuss human rights and the struggles for peace and justice. Watch this talk and learn about why these issues are as important as ever.

Our final talk is by Rev. Majed El Shafie. In his talk, El Shafie discusses his first hand account of some of the horrors of war and what it is like to be persecuted.

On this day, it is important to reflect and remember what others have given up so that we can live in peace. How are you marking this Remembrance Day?
